Text Message Consent

Who receives messages

Only people with an active worker account at Newport Car Barn - contract bartenders, parkers, cleaners, closers and on-site managers. There is no public signup. Consumers and event guests are not messaged.

How consent is collected

1. A Newport Car Barn administrator invites a worker individually.
2. The worker follows the invitation link and creates a password-protected account at https://ncb.acornworksai.com
3. During setup the worker enters their mobile number and is shown an optional checkbox, unchecked by default. Checking it and saving is the act of consent.
4. The worker immediately receives a confirmation text.

The checkbox is not pre-checked and is not required. A worker can complete setup and be scheduled for shifts without opting in.

The exact consent text shown to the worker

"I agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Newport Car Barn about my work schedule - shift offers, schedule changes, and urgent updates. Message frequency varies, up to approximately 30 messages per week. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy and SMS Terms."

After the worker opts in

Saving the form records the consent immediately, with the date, time and IP address stored against the worker's record. The worker is returned to their profile, where the setting reads "Shift texts: on" with the date consent was given, and the same checkbox stays available so they can withdraw consent at any time. A confirmation text is sent right away.
